Far From Home...

Since we are so far from home, there are a few things that make us feel really happy and a little less home sick. 

1. Trips to Costco when we are in Dallas. I know, it isn't just a "Oregon" thing. But there is just something about Costco that is comforting to me. Maybe its the mass amounts of food that puts you in a food coma (and you don't even have to eat it, although I love a good 'ole meal made of samples) :)

2. Trader Joe's curry sauce. Yes, it is another silly, not just "Oregon" thing. But when we were home in July we were sure to stock up on some and bring it home. I ration it out each month to make sure we make it until we are home again in Dec. :) 

3. Laila's "Goodnight Oregon" book. 'Nuff said.

4. Pictures and facebook. We LOVE seeing pictures of our friends and loved ones and get to keep up on what everyone is up to. 

5. But most of all SKYPE. The thing is a miracle! Every time we open the computer Laila will get all excited. Especially if I play a video, or something. She always thinks someone is there to skype her.

This invention is beyond brilliant, and FREE! What can be better. It is always nice to get to chat with people but its another thing when you get to have that "face time." It helps half the country seem not all that far for a while.
