One thing in my life I have learned to treasure more than anything is family. Why? Because it is a BEAUTIFUL blessing from God! I also have learned, life is short. Tomorrow, you just never know. So I want to live my life WITHOUT regrets. Especially in this area. 16 "Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the LORD your God is giving you. Duet. 5:16 This is the ONLY commandment with a promise.
2"Honor your father and mother"—which is the first commandment with a promise— 3"that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth." Eph 6:2-3
What does it truly mean to honor someone? Recognition, showing respect... etc.
How would we show respect to those who matter the most? What does Jesus ask us to do to respect him?
Do we respect others we love the most with the same kind of respect?
Do we spend time with them when it is self sacrificing?
My top hero's in my life are my parents. They have been beautiful examples to me of love and Jesus.
My Daddy. Wow. I can't even begin to say how much he means to me. He is my hero. He is the Daddy that every girl I am sure dreams of. Sure we had our fights, who doesn't? But I can't look back and ever say he didn't love me. He has loved me, and always provided for me and the rest of my family. I want to HONOR him by showing him I care. Phone calls, trip to see him etc. I know someday when I look back, I will never say, oh man, I wish I would have saved that $40.00 on gas, or that one day to do ____ instead of spend quality time with him. NEVER. NEVER regret a minute of it. Special memories that I forever get to hold. Someday I know my little girl will be a Grandpa's girl, and a Daddy's girl because she has been blessed with the BEST Grandpa Steve, and Daddy Jesse ever. Someday I know she will look back, and say THEY are my heroes. Dad, thank you. Your a wonderful example of a good husband. Thanks for showing me so I could find one as good as Jesse. Thanks for loving me, even some days when it was hard. (even though I am the perfect and favorite child ;) ) Thanks for enduring heart break and showing me God is comfort. Thanks for showing me how to keep precious memories alive, I know Grandma Dee Dee, and Mommy would be so proud of us! Thanks for fighting for God's best. Your a miracle, and truly an example of God's mightiness. Keep fighting, I know a little girl who is anxious and all get out to get out and play with Grandpa for many years...and trust me, she is an active one!!
It breaks my heart to see broken families. Kids who don't care. I hope it never comes down to them loosing the ones they love most before they will step up and care. I hope we live with no regrets. Nothing is more important.
Jesus first, family second, and all else falls behind that. Not church, not jobs, not ANYTHING is more important. For this I am thankful.
More on my heroes later in the week.
Here are some pics from him leading worship at the church in Newberg. First time since Easter when he had his stroke. AMAZING! Sad we didn't make it...tried, pass was TERRIBLE got stuck at black butte! Next time!
I love my daddy!
